You can’t question the many benefits of a traditional upright exercise bike. There is a new alternative however, that also deserves serious consideration.

Recumbent exercise bikes provide the many benefits of traditional models, with one major difference.  A recumbent bike allows you to recline and lean back in comfort while you work out.

Pressure-Free Knees

The most important benefit of a recumbent exercise bike is that it helps to alleviate pressure on the knees.  This is not the case with upright exercise bikes. This unique design is a huge benefit to those millions of riders who may have experienced knee joint pain while exercising with regular exercise bikes.

The knees and ankles take lot of pounding while running or jogging.  Working out on a recumbent exercise bike provides the rider with a good cardio workout, without feeling as though your feet are pounding the pavement whenever you pedal the bike.

Recumbent bikes put the least amount of strain on your knees and joints by taking away most of the gravity and weight off the legs.

Another great benefit of recumbent exercise bikes is that the rider does not feel “saddle sore” from sitting on its comfortable seat as compared with a typical bike seat. Even though you may feel some tenderness from sitting on the recumbent bike seat, it is considerably less than upright models and other bikes.

Learn how to ride faster than you ever thought possible

Since the main benefit of recumbent exercise bikes is in the increased comfort levels, this style allows the rider to exercise for longer periods of time.  Therefore, it’s easier to stay in better health than with comparable exercise equipment.

As with all exercise equipment, you can only reap the full benefits if you use the recumbent exercise bikes consistently and regularly.  Once you’ve discovered the comfort of this type of bike, there is little chance of going back to the upright version.

Even sedentary beginners are able to reap the benefits of recumbent exercise bikes, because the workout programs promote increased interest in exercising.  It is crucial for any exercise program not to be mundane, as this could easily put off rookie exercisers.  There are more options available on a recumbent exercise bike, making it so much easier to use, and to stick with the program.
